Our History

In 1917, Rollie and Anna Barbara (Grabill) Peterseim established the Peterseim Funeral Home to serve the people of Kalona. The funeral home was purchased from Rollie by his son, Short, in 1963. The business is still in the family, with Short’s daughter, Meg working in the funeral home and his widow Jan (Holden) Peterseim living and working in the home at 201 B Avenue. Meg received her license in 1994 and became the manager of the funeral home, making her the third generation of Peterseim’s to care for the community and its families.
