Antonio "Tony" Gutierrez

Antonio “Tony” Gutierrez, 73, of Wayland, died Sunday, May 16, 2021, at his daughter’s home in North Liberty. Per his request he has been cremated and no services are planned.

Antonio Gutierrez was born December 16, 1947, in Brownsville, TX, the son of Vidal and Cleotilde (Lopez) Gutierrez. He worked in various jobs, locally for Mike Niffenegger and English River Pellets. Tony was a hard-working man, taking pride in the work he did. He enjoyed restoring old cars, listening to oldies music, and spending time with his family. Tony never knew a stranger, making friends wherever he went.

Survivors include nine children: Antonio Gutierrez, II of North Liberty, Angel Gutierrez Sellers of Florence, MS, Chino Gutierrez of Madison, MS, Chad Gutierrez of Des Moines, Tim Gutierrez of Keota, Jessica Gutierrez and Antonia Gutierrez both of North Liberty, and Heather Gomez of Davenport, 25 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are two sisters: Guadalaupe Ayala of Brownsville, TX, Aurura Schrock of Lockridge, IA, two brothers: David Gutierrez of Brownsville, TX, Billy Gutierrez of Garland, TX and an uncle Wally Lopez of Weslaco, TX.

Preceding Tony in death were his parents, a daughter Anita, and two brothers.
