Funeral services for Christian R. "Chriss" Yoder will be held Tuesday, January 1, 2019 at 9:30 AM at the Perry Bender Residence, 2710 560th St. SW, Kalona, with burial following at the Peter Miller Cemetery. Visitation will be held Sunday, Dec. 30 from 2 – 8PM and Monday, Dec. 31 from 10:30 – 7:30 AM all at the Perry Bender Residence. The Beatty Peterseim Funeral Home is assisting the family. Christian Ray Yoder was born November 30, 1930 in Johnson County, Iowa, the son of Edward G. and Anna (Ropp) Yoder. He was baptized in the Old Order Amish Church in his youth and remained a faithful member until his death. He was united in marriage to Eldora S. Mast on October 25, 1951 in Kalona, and they lived in matrimony 67 years. To this union were born four sons and three daughters. Chriss died suddenly from an apparent heart failure in his home at the age of 88 years and 28 days.

He is survived by his wife Eldora and seven children: Cephas and wife Emma Yoder, Mahlon and wife Bertha Yoder, Verna and husband Perry Bender all of Kalona, Edna and husband Perry Miller of Windsor, MO, Wesley and wife Verlene Yoder of Brighton, IA, Samuel and wife Norma Yoder and Louise and husband Tobias Yoder of Kalona, 56 grandchildren, 143 great-grandchildren, three brothers: J. Edward and wife Treva Yoder of Goshen, IN, Alton and wife Susie Yoder and Marvin and wife Elizabeth Yoder of Crofton, KY, two brothers-in-law: Eddie J. Miller of Kalona and Herman E. Miller of Guthrie, KY.

Preceding Chriss in death were his parents, three brothers: Sylvanus, Thomas and Lewis, four sisters: Viola, Edna, Dorothy, Lydia Anna, three grandchildren and four great -grandchildren.
