Daryl Oldfield

A celebration of life for Daryl W. Oldfield, 94, of Wellman will be held Saturday, June 21, 2014 at 10:00 AM at the Peterseim Funeral Home in Kalona.  Burial will follow at the Wellman Public Cemetery.  Visitation will be held Friday, June 20 from 5 – 7 PM at the Peterseim Funeral Home.  A memorial fund has been established for the Wellman Ambulance.  Daryl died Tuesday, June 17, 2014 at the Washington County Hospital.

Daryl Wayne Oldfield was born January 24, 1920 in Wellman, Iowa the son of Carl Rickey and Alice Maria (Jones) Oldfield.  He graduated from Wellman High School in 1938.  Daryl worked in many occupations throughout his life, including farmer, car and implement dealership owner, insurance agent and real estate agent.  He was a member of the Dayton Masonic Lodge of Wellman and enjoyed fishing, playing in pepper tournaments and spending time with his family and friends in the Wellman community.

Survivors include three sons: Alan (Joy) Oldfield of Cedar Rapids, IA, Duane (Barb) Oldfield of Iowa City, IA, Rick Jirsa of Iowa City, IA, four grandchildren: Erin and Andrea Oldfield and Justin and Jessie Oldfield.

Preceding Daryl in death were his parents and one sister, Fern Bishop.

Daryl was a unique person.Robert and I enjoyed his company many times over the years.We will miss him.
