David "Dave" Worthington was born December 23, 1947, the son of John J. and Viola "Vi" (Watt) Worthington in Monmouth, IL. He was a 1965 graduate of Roseville High School, Roseville, IL. Dedicated to our country, he enlisted in the Unites States Army in 1966 during the Vietnam War. In Vietnam he served as a heavy equipment operator. It was in Vietnam that David was heavily exposed to Agent Orange, from which he suffered numerous health issues throughout his life. David was united in marriage to Diane Bubon on September 2, 1966. To this union three beautiful children were born: Stephanie (Jeff) Shaner of Mayville, WI., Dewain (Kirsten) Peterson of Mokena, IL., and Toni (Chris) Van Bevern of Alpha, IL. He later married Judy Lynn Creek in Bushnell, IL, where he spent the majority of his adult years. He married his high school sweetheart, Nancy (Lawhorn) Means on May 28, 2011. David was an expert farmer. He also was employed at Yetter Manufacturing in Colchester, IL, where he designed implement tools as a design supervisor. He later worked as a long haul semi truck driver for Hiel, until a severe injury forced early retirement at age 58.

David was a member of the Kalona United Methodist Church, the Lions Club, the Kalona Optimist Club and the Wellman American Legion. He was an avid deer hunter, fisherman and gardener. David excelled in camp cooking and many family and friends enjoyed his expertise in an outdoor kitchen. David welcomed everyone with a smile. He gave much and asked nothing in return. He will be missed by many, especially Nancy, Thor and Zeus.

David is survived by his wife Nancy of Kalona, four sisters: Melinda Frakes, Carolyn Taflinger, Brenda (Jim) Lybarger, Juana (Richard) Becraft, one brother Michael (Ruth) Worthington, his three children, six grandchildren, a great grandson, one step daughter Nichole Myles, seven step-grandchildren, and eight step great grandchildren. He was especially close to his cousin Nancy Huston.

Preceding David in death were his parents, paternal grandparents John and Mabel Worthington, maternal grandparents Ben and Mae Watt and a granddaughter.
