Dennis Teel

Dennis Ivan Teel, 67 of Coppock, IA died Tuesday, July 8, 2014 at the VA Hospital in Iowa City.

Graveside services with military honors from American Legion Post #29 will be 11:00 AM Monday, July 14, 2014 at the Cottonwood Cemetery with Pastor Robert Wolf officiating. Vistitation will begin at 1:00 PM Sunday at the Beatty Funeral Home in Wayland with family present from 3-5:00 PM. A general memorial in the name of Dennis Teel has been established.

Dennis was born November 1, 1946 in Washington, Iowa the son of Ray and Alene (Hayes) Teel. He attended Washington schools and served in the US Navy during Viet Nam. He was united in marriage to Judy (Williams) Arbogast on September 5, 1998.

Dennis was a truck driver for Dickey Transport, mechanic at Don's tire and service in Brighton and pressman for newspapers in Kansas and Alaska. He was a lifetime member of the VFW and was proud to be mayor of Coppock. Intererst included time with family, fishing, camping, stock car racing and playing the guitar.

Survivors include his wife Judy of Coppock, children, Scott Teel of Chanute, KS, Julia Crawford and fiance Jamie Behr of Plymouth, WI, Richard Teel and friend Millie Sheldon of Kiana, AK, Mechell Roberts (Daryl) of Clinton, MO, Michelle Parker of AZ, Kimberly Pohren (Neil), Lisa Wilsey, Todd Williams (April) all of Burlington, IA; brother Richard Teel (Gloria) of Wasilla, AK, sister Rae Ann Stouder (Roger) of Ft. Madison, IA; fifteen grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents,brother Everett, previous wife Dixie Sieren, mother of Scott, Julia, Richard and Mechell.

Rea Ann, I am sorry to hear about your brother Denny.I remember him as a young and still seems so to me at his age of 67.

I can remember as a very young man sitting many times on the banks of the Cedar river. Sitting beside a man, that always took time for this kid. Denny showed me how to fish, he attempted to teach me guitar, and he tried to explain Viet Nam. It wasn't untill years later, I understood how lucky I was. Rest peacefull my friend. Hoss
