Dorothy Moorer

Dorothy Gloria Dean Moorer, 71, of Washington died Tuesday, March 4, 2020 at the Iowa City Rehab and Health Care Center. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Monday, March 9, 2020 at the Beatty Funeral Home in Washington. Visitation will be from 2:00-4:00 PM Sunday, March 8, 2020 at the Funeral Home. Dorothy’s body will be cremated after the service.

Dorothy Moorer was born April 25, 1948 in Ripley, Tennessee, the daughter of Johnny and Ora B. Moorer. Dorothy attended public schools in Lauderdale County and was most recently employed at EPC in Kalona. She married Johnny Shaw at a young age and had four children. Dorothy was a loving, caring person who enjoyed yard sales and cooking.

Dorothy is survived by her children; Patricia Shaw of Chicago, IL, Johnny Shaw Jr of IL, Ernest Shaw, of Washington, IA, siblings; James (Mary) Moorer of Carmel, IN, Jacqueline Garner of Rossville, TN; Joyce (Larry) Walton of Memphis, TN, Shelia (Ray) Maclin of Memphis, TN, Ethel Spivey of Ripley, TN, 9 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews and her dog Todo.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, step-father George Peete, son Rickey Shaw, siblings; Johnny Moorer, Bobby Moorer, Lee Moorer and Vassella Moorer.
