Dorothy See

Dorothy Mae See, 97 of Washington, died Sunday, July 7, 2019 at the United Presbyterian Home in Washington. A Celebration of her life will be 11:30 AM Wednesday, July 10, 2019 at the Beatty Funeral Home with Pastor Andrew Zuehlke officiating. Visitation will be from 9:30 until service time at the funeral home. Her body will be donated to the University of Iowa Anatomy Department and be interred at Elm Grove Cemetery at a later date. Beatty Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements. A memorial in the name of Dorothy Mae See has been established to Hospice of Washington County. Dorothy was born May 19, 1922 in Washington, Iowa the daughter of Robert Ephriam and Frances Faye (Swisher) Lowe. She was united in marriage to Clarence “Mike” Wayne See on August 21, 1939. She was employed with McCleery Cumming for 37 years. She enjoyed her family, dancing, playing softball as a young adult and a great love for music. She did a lot of walking and enjoyed walking several miles per day into her 80s. Survivors include son Larry D. (Carol) See of Sterling, Il, daughters, Linda R. Peiffer of Phoenix, AZ and Marsha A. (Tom) Horak of Washington, IA; ten grandchildren; twenty-three great grandchildren and twenty-six great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Mike, brother Robert; sisters Ruth Lowe and Bess Edwards.
