Edwin Miller

June 29, 1927 — December 6, 2015

Funeral services for Edwin Ray Miller, 88, of Kalona, will be held Wednesday, December 9, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at the Norman Jay Miller residence, 2066 520th Street, SW, Kalona, with Bishop Ivan Borntrager officiating.  Burial will follow in the North Gingerich Cemetery.  Visitation will be held Monday, December 7 from 3 – 8 p.m. and Tuesday, December 8 from 10 a.m. - 8 p.m. at the Norman Jay Miller residence.

Edwin Ray Miller was born June 29, 1927, in Kalona, Iowa, the son of Chriss B. and Barbara (Brenneman) Miller.  He was baptized in the Old Order Amish Church and remained a faithful member until his death on Sunday, December 6, 2015 of heart failure.

On February 1, 1950 he was united in marriage to Ada Miller.  They lived and farmed in the Kalona area.  She preceded him in death on July 29, 2011.  He was ordained Deacon on October 20, 1991.

Survivors include four sons and two daughters: Marvin (Freda) Miller and Sanford (Malinda) Miller of Kalona; Marlene (Ernest) Swarey of Guthrie, KY; Glen (Marilyn) Miller of Reed City, MI; Norman (Loretta) Miller of Kalona; Inez (Isaac) Yoder of Riverside, IA, 48 grandchildren, 46 great grandchildren, two sisters: Mrs. Leona Peachy and Mary (Freeman) Miller.

Preceding Edwin in death were his parents, his wife, a daughter-in-law Sylvia Miller, two brothers: Henry and Monroe, one sister, Elsie, a brother-in-law, Jess Peachy, a sister-in-law Fannie (Henry) Miller, and two great grandchildren: Miriam and Joshua Miller.

The family would like to thank everyone for the many acts of love and kindness shown them during this time of loss.
