Henry Hochstetler

June 27, 1927 — April 11, 2016

Henry Junior “Hank” Hochstetler was born June 27, 1929, twin to Henrietta June son and daughter of Henry F. and Amy Hochstetler at Kalona, IA. He died on April 11, 2016 in Bonita Springs, FL at the age of 86.
He attended the Iowa Mennonite High School in Kalona, IA and was a member of the first graduating class. He attended the University of Iowa in Iowa City, IA and Goshen College in Goshen, IN.
He married Lois Leichty who died in 2002. They reared four children; Steven (Debra) Hochstetler, David (Beverly) Hochstetler, Cynthia (Ken) Nichols all of Elkhart, IN and Patricia Lindsey of Bonita Springs, FL. He married Jo Ann Brent on November 26, 2005 who survives along with his second family, Douglas (Mary) Brent, Suzanne Brent of Louisville, KY, Sandra Roark of Hebron, KY and Dana Brent of Ashburn, VA. He is survived by six grandchildren, two great grandchildren, and five second family grandchildren and his sister, Mrs. Loran Hershberger.
Hank spent his life as a business man manufacturing R/V’s in Elkhart, IN and operating two KOA Campgrounds, one in Elkhart, IN, and another in Wisconsin Dells, WI. He sold the companies and moved to Bonita Springs, FL in 1979 and became a realtor. He owned Hochstetler Realty, Inc. for a number of years retiring in 2002.
Hank was community volunteer minded and served on various boards. He was Past President of the Bonita Springs Chamber of Commerce, Past President of the Bonita Springs Board of Realtors, Past President of the Bonita Springs Utility Company, Past President of Bonita Springs Main Street, Past President of the Lee County R/V Campground Owners Association and has served on the YMCA Board of Directors, the Imperial River Conservancy Board and the Bonita Springs Incorporation Board.
He was awarded the Bonita Springs Citizen of the Year in 1996, the National R/V dealer of the year in 1975, the realtor of the Year by the Chamber of Commerce in 1996, the Rotary Service above Self award in 1997, the YMCA Volunteer of the year in 2000, and the “Love of Bonita Award” in 2011.
Hank loved his church, The First Presbyterian Church of Bonita Springs. He was ordained an Elder and served three terms, was a member of the Chancel choir for over 30 years, chaired numerous committees including three building committees. He was an avid reader, loved music and loved to travel.
Funeral Services have been set for 11:00 AM, Saturday, April 23, 2016 at the Bethel Mennonite Church near Wayland. Burial will follow in the Bethel Mennonite Cemetery.
