Joe Jenn was born Oct. 29, 1919 near Riverside, IA, the son of August and Ella Fitzpatrick Jenn.

Joe attended St. Joseph's School in Hills. He served in the U S Army during WWII European campaign. Joe and Rita Ruth were married August 11, 1948 at St. Mary's Church in Riverside.  They lived in the community during their married life.  Joe was a farmer and masonry attendant working for Vigo Jensen and Knutson Construction. He had been member of Labor's International Union of North America, #309.  Joe was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Hills, Hills Community Club and the Friends Club.

Joe was a sports fan who also participated in playing softball and other sports for many years.  He was a very avid supporter of all Iowa Hawkeye teams. He enjoyed playing cards and bingo. He assisted with bingo at the Hills Community Center He served as a volunteer at Atrium Village.

Joe is survived by his wife of 63 years, Rita of Hills, nine children, nine children and spouses, Joanne Murdock (John Greenwood) of Riverside, Eileen Allen of Iowa City, Anita Norman (Ben) Ft. Collins, Co. Joyce Roper (Ralph) Bald Knob, Ark, Donna Arthur (Randy) Ainsworth, Linda Beeler (Allen) Iowa City, Tom Jenn (Diane Cerven) Iowa City, Steve Jenn (Chris) Hills, Mary Kay Hora (Tom) Riverside, two sons-in-law, Bill Fortune of Denver, Co. and Jerry Murphy of Washington and a sister-in-law, Veva Jenn, Riverside.  Also surviving are his grandchildren; Missy Thomas, Sarah and Evan Greenwood, Shannon and Scott Arendsen, Molly and Casey Fortune, Joe Allen, Tina Riggan, Andrea and Curt Allen, B. J. and Blake Norman, Heath. Jared and Angela Roper, Dee and Jammie Arthur, Nathan Knappen, Amber Walters, Cassie and Ryan Jenn, Tyler Jenn, Justin, Matt, Kristen Hora, Jessie and Michelle Murphy, and 20 great grandchildren.

Preceding Joe in death were his parents, two daughters, Kathy Fortune and Beth Murphy and a grandson, Jeremy Jenn.  Joe was the last of his siblings; Leo and Henry Jenn, Mary Mellecker, Leona Rottenberger, Florence Droll.

Joe's family appreciates all the many acts of kindness and support given them during this time of their loss and during Joe's illness.  Your kindness will always be remembered.

Please join the family for a time of fellowship at the Hills Community Center following the committal service.
