A celebration of life for Kathy A. Childs, 67, of Kalona will be held Thursday, January 7, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at the Beatty Funeral Home in Washington. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service, from 1 – 2 p.m. A memorial fund has been established for Iowa City Hospice and the University of Iowa Children's Hospital. Kathy Childs died Monday, January 4, 2016 at Mercy Hospital Hospice.
Kathy Ann Childs was born July 11, 1948 in Washington, IA, the daughter of Raymond J. and Norma Z. (Munn) Miller. She graduated from Washington High School and was united in marriage to Patrick Childs on April 21, 1967 in Washington. Kathy was a member of the United Presbyterian Church and she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, going to the Ozarks, Hawkeye wrestling, the Dallas Cowboys and following the band Mad Hoss Jackson.
Survivors include her husband Patrick of Kalona, four sons: Gregory (Amanda) Childs of North Liberty, IA, James (Victoria) Childs of Rock Rapids, IA, Matthew (Natalie) Childs of Cedar Rapids, IA, Bruce (Tina) Childs of Kalona, IA, 15 grandchildren: Natalie, Andrea, Darci, Emily, Diann, Nathan, Seth, Mallory, McKayla, Melanie, Cloe, Micah, Chelsie, Bryce and Bronson, one great grandson, Aden, five brothers: Ray Miller, John (Linda) Miller, Terry (Nancy) Miller, Ralph (Cathy) Miller, Roger Miller and a sister, Jean (Ken) Stout.
Preceding Kathy in death were her parents.
