Kenneth Chalupa

Kenneth James Chalupa was born on January 3, 1938, and went to be with our Lord on February 18, 2018. He had just celebrated his 80th birthday shortly before his death. Kenneth was born to Glenn and Violet Chalupa in a farmhouse in the Kalona, Iowa area. Growing up, Kenneth attended several one room schools as his parents were tenant farmers. Kenneth and his parents moved to Loveland, Colorado to be closer to his sister Virginia.  While in Loveland, Kenneth worked at HP as a janitor. When not working, Kenneth and his family enjoyed camping in their RV and traveling all over the country. They traveled more than once to West Virginia to visit his sister Virginia and her family. In 1990, Kenneth and his parents moved back to the family farm in Kalona. Kenneth enjoyed being on the farm, caring for his dogs and cats and helping to make sure the landscape looked beautiful. He took great pride in this. Additionally, Kenneth enjoyed doing jigsaw puzzles and doing crafts.

Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents Glenn and Violet Chalupa and his brother-in-law, Butch Johnson. Surviving is his sister, Virginia Johnson and niece, Sally Johnson, his aunt Rozetta Fry and numerous cousins.

Kenneth’s viewing will be on Thursday, February 22 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the Peterseim Funeral Home, Kalona. His funeral service is set for Friday, February 23 at 11:00 at the Peterseim Funeral Home. The family request in lieu of flowers that donations be made to Hospice of Washington County or a charity of their choosing.
