Lola Sinn

May 16, 1929 — March 29, 2021

A graveside service for Lola B. Sinn, 91, of Wayland, will be held Friday, April 2, 2021, at 11:30 AM at Elm Grove Cemetery in Washington. A visitation will be held from 9 – 11 AM Friday morning at the Beatty Funeral Home in Washington. A memorial fund has been established for Cans for Cancer and Hospice of Compassus of Cedar Rapids (the hospice that cared for Lola while she was in the hospital). Lola Beth Sinn passed away Monday, March 29, 2021 at the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City.

Lola was born May 16, 1929, in Fairfield, Iowa, the daughter of Gilbert and Ethel (McNeese) Morrow. The family lived in Keota, Iowa, where Lola attended Keota schools. She married Orin Black August 18, 1946, in Kansas. To this union, nine boys were born. They later divorced. She married Max Arbogast on March 25, 1966. They lived in Washington, where Lola managed the VFW Club for ten years. They later moved to Talleyrand where they owned and operated the Talleyrand restaurant and bar. In 1996, they moved to Wayland where Lola was the site manager at WayMar housing development. Max passed away in 2011. Lola married Rex Sinn on November 14, 2016 in Wayland. They lived happily until his passing in 2018. Lola was a member of the Independent Bible Church in Wayland. In earlier years, Lola was an active volunteer at the VA Hospital in Iowa City. She was a lifetime member of the VFW Auxiliary, and the VFW. She enjoyed playing bingo and helping with the activities at Parkview Nursing Home. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family, especially the Fourth of July parade and picnic. Lola had many friends and loved sharing stories of her life.

Survivors are eight Black sons, Denny (Laura), Alpha, IL, Mike (Bev), Washington, Bill (Sherry), Washington, Larry, Iowa City, Steve (Denise), Webster, Gary (Jackie), Ankeny, Tom (Deb), Washington, Brad (Bonnie), Sigourney. She had 21 grandchildren, 38 great grandchildren, and one great-great granddaughter. She is also survived by stepson Harold (Theresa) Arbogast, Brighton, stepdaughter Judy Teel, Wayland, 10 step-grandchildren, 17 step-great grandchildren, and 13 step-great grandchildren. Other survivors are brothers Dick Morrow and Larry (Evelyn) Morrow of Wayland.

Preceding Lola in death were her parents, husbands, a son, Doug, stepson, Mick Arbogast, one step grandchild, brothers: Doc, Donnie, Skippy and Bo, and sisters Jean and Mattie Lou.
