Marion Reschly

Funeral services for Marion C. "Tink" Reschly, 93 of Wayland, formerly of Crawfordsville, will be held Saturday, November 21, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at the Sugar Creek Mennonite Church in Wayland with Pastors Nathan and Rachelle Luitjens officiating.  Burial will follow at the Sugar Creek Cemetery.  Visitation will be held Friday, November 20, from noon to 7 p.m. at the Beatty Funeral Home in Washington, where the family will greet friends from 4 – 7 p.m.  A memorial fund has been established for Parkview Home and Sugar Creek Mennonite Church.  Marion Reschly died Sunday, November 15, 2015 at the Parkview Home in Wayland.

Marion Conrad Reschly was born July 25, 1922 in Henry County, Iowa, the son of Harry and Fanny (Conrad) Reschly.  He graduated from Crawfordsville High School.    Marion served in CPS in Ft. Collins, CO. from January of 1943 to May of 1946, and on March 28, 1948 he was united in marriage to Opal M. Burkholder at his fathers farm in Crawfordsville.  He spent most of his life as a finish carpenter, helping to build churches, schools and homes and will forever be a part of peoples live for many years to come.  He donated his time, sweat and craft to people in his community and abroad.  Marion was a member of the Sugar Creek Mennonite Church and volunteered at the Crowded Closet in Iowa City.  He enjoyed woodworking and began making rocking horses for his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, then for numerous benefits, auctions and for his friends.

Survivors include his wife Opal of Crawfordsville, IA, two children: Rodney Reschly of Elkhart, IN, Cynthia (Steve) Butcher of North Liberty, IA, son-in-law, Paul Byers of Goshen, IN, nine grandchildren: Melissa (Walker) Evans, Joshua (Deesha) Butcher, Jason Butcher, Carrie Butcher, Sam (Jeanna) Reschly, Michael (Kathy) Reschly, Matt (Mandy) Baker, Paul (Laurie) Byers and Craig (Tara) Byers, 15 great grandchildren: Eliza, Leah, Lindsey, Nikolas, Jacob, Riley, Brock, Alex, Noah, Zoe, McKinley, Maisy, Lindsay, Paige and Emma, two brothers: Ray (Wava) Reschly, Vernon (Laura) Reschly, sister-in-law, Marge Reschly, and brother-in-law, Stanley Burkholder.

Preceding Marion in death were his parents, a daughter, Carol Byers, daughter in law, Rosie Reschly, son-in-law, Tim Baker, three brothers: Willard (Leona) Reschly, Orlin (Jean) Reschly, Ben Reschly, three sisters: Vera (Tom) Buchanan, Kathryn (John) Lehman, Elsie Burkholder, and one sister-in-law, Mary Reschly.
