Martha Rae Evans was born April 11, 1930 near Kalona. She was the daughter of Raymond  and Vanora Kessler Westrick. Martha attended Kalona High School.  She lived in the Kalona and Wellman area most of her life until moving to Clear Lake, IA in 2005, where she made her home with her daughter, Barbara Ketchum.

Martha died in a home in Clear Lake following a short illness.

Martha was united in marriage to Carl Evans in Iowa City on July 16, 1948.  The lived in Wellman duiring their marriage.  Carl preceded Martha in death on July 10, 1991.

Martha and Carl enjoyed making and selling crafts a number of shows in the area.

Survivors are her children; Barbara (Jerry) Ketchum of Clear Lake, Catherine (Rodney) Erakovich of Arlington, Texas, Carla (Mike) Winters of Wellman, Judy (Denton) Galloway of Grinell and Jim Evans of Searsboro, Ia.  Also surviving are 9 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.

Preceding Martha in death were her husband, Carl, one grandson, Geremy Descoteau and 4 siblings, Morris Westrick, Phyllis Pierce Maryetta and Ralph Westrick.

A general memorial fund has been established.
