Martha Miller

December 25, 1930 — October 18, 2017

A Celebration of Life for Martha L. Miller, 86, of West Branch, formally of Kalona will be 1:00 PM Monday, October 23, 2017 at the Kalona United Methodist Church in Kalona with Pastor Gerry Kahler officiating. Cremation will follow and private family inurnment will be at Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be 10:00 AM to Noon Monday at the Church. A memorial fund has been established to Kalona United Methodist Church. Martha Miller died peacefully Wednesday morning, October 18, 2017 at Crestview Specialty Care in West Branch.

Martha was born December 25, 1930 in Gruthie Center, Iowa the daughter of Pearl and Ruth (Conger) Routh. She graduated from North High School in Des Moines and later married Richard L. Miller June 12, 1949 in Des Moines.

She was a member of the Kalona United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women and Alpha Club. Martha worked 16 years at Moores Business Forms in Iowa City. She enjoyed sports, quilting, reading, crossword puzzles and word search. Richard and Martha both enjoyed attending auctions where they collected antique glasseware.

Survivors include four children: Randall C. (Tara) Miller of Rockford, IL., Karen S. (Richard) Schwerdtfeger of Des Moines, IA, Russell D. (Patty) Miller of Marshalltown, IA, Darryl L. (Joan) Miller of Rock Falls, IL., seven grandchildren, six great grandchildren, seven step grandchildren and seven step great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Richard, siblings, Bliss, Amor, Donn, Roma Cedars and Sue Ann Witmore.
