Richard "Spyder" Young

Richard A. “Spyder” Young, 71, of Wayland, died Saturday, December 26, 2020, at his home in Wayland. He will be cremated, and a service will be held at a later date. A memorial fund has been established for the family’s use.

Richard Alan Young was born August 9, 1949, in Alton, IL, the son of Claude Lee and Mary Thomas (Pace) Young. He graduated from Linn Marr High School in Marion, IA. In 1969 he was drafted into the United States Army and served in the Vietnam War. Spyder worked at Pacemaker Buildings and Confinement Specialists constructing buildings. He was a member of the Fairfield VFW and enjoyed raising and riding horses, mushroom hunting, and raising tomatoes and peppers in his garden

Survivors include his brother Mark (Shelley) Young of Fairfield, IA, sister Lynn Pryer of Springfield, IL, one niece Megan and two nephews: Cody and Wyatt Young.

Preceding Spyder in death were his parents, two infant brothers and a niece Jennifer.
