A celebration of life for Robert J. Freyenberger, 95 of Parkview Home in Wayland, will be held Sunday, October 23, 2011 at 2:00PM at the Eicher Mennonite Church in Wayland with Pastor Larry Evers officiating. Burial will follow at the Eicher Cemetery. Visitation will be held Saturday, October 22 from 5-7PM at the Eicher Mennonite Church. Robert Freyenberger died Tuesday, October 18, 2011 at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City following a brief illness. A memorial fund has been established for the Parkview Home, Iowa City Hospice and The Gideon's.

Robert J. Freyenberger was born October 8, 1916 in Wayland, Iowa the son of Elmer and Emma (Oswald) Freyenberger. On April 25, 1946 he was united in marriage to Mildred L. Kephart at her parent's home. Robert was a farmer all of his life and was a member of the Eicher Mennonite Church and The Gideons. He enjoyed visiting with people, spending time with his grandchildren, reading the Bible and praying regularly for Mennonite Mission volunteers.

Survivors include four children and spouses, Ron (Ruth) Freyenberger of Goshen, IN, Kathleen (Phil) Kennel of Jonesboro, GA, June Freyenberger of Coralville, IA, Steve (Sue) Freyenberger of Wayland, IA, six grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, one brother, William Freyenberger of Wayland, IA, three sisters, Ruth Graber of Wayland, IA, Myrtle Gardner of Minnesota and Ina (Orlin) Eigsti of Kansas.

Preceding Robert in death were his parents, his wife Mildred and one brother, Edward Freyenberger.
