Robert "Bob" Hartley
Robert D. “Bob” Hartley, 90, of Wellman, formerly of Washington, died Monday, November 30, 2020, at the Parkview Home in Wellman. A private family service will be held Saturday, December 5, 2020, at 1:00 PM at the Peterseim Funeral Home in Kalona. The service will be available via Livestream at the Beatty Peterseim Facebook page. Burial with full military honors will follow at the Sharon Hill Cemetery. Robert DeWayne Hartley was born November 1, 1930, in Davenport, IA, the son of Benjamin and Elizabeth (Clark) Hartley. Bob’s foster parents were Glenn and Ferne Wahl of Kalona. He attended Kalona High School and enlisted in the United States Air Force at the start of the Korean War and served until that war ended. On July 1, 1951, he was united in marriage to Paula Mast at the Kalona Methodist Church. Bob worked as a press operator in the print department at Moore Business Forms for 31 years. He was a member of the Grace Christian Church, Riverside VFW Post #6414, and the Confederate Air Force, where he worked as a volunteer helping to restore and fly WWII airplanes. He enjoyed camping, fishing, stock car racing, painting cars, building remote control airplanes and was building a personal experimental aircraft. Bob was an assistant Boy Scout Leader and was always willing to help anyone in need. He liked to spend time with his family and friends.
Survivors include his wife Paula of Washington, four children: Joette Armbruster of Riverside, Michial (Debbie) Hartley of Iowa City, Tony (Dee) Hartley of Cedar Rapids, and Ryan (Deborah) Hartley of Phoenix, AZ, 17 grandchildren, 35 great- grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren and one sister Betty Tinken of Gilmore City, Iowa.
Preceding Bob in death were his parents, his foster parents, a son Douglas Ardell Hartley, two sisters: Rosemary and Clara (Gwen) and two brothers: Benjamin Jr and James.

Thank you, Jim. Dad did enjoy being able to see and talk to Ned. He also enjoyed talking with you and Ron. Ned and my mom shared the same birthday. He was always took pride in the mowing he did. He will be missed.

Paula.and family, so sorry to hear of Bobs passing.There are so many memories of the good times. We looked forward to his visits every morning at the shop. His stories were always interesting,and his mower blades were always sharp !!! Our sincere condolences, so so sorry.. Jim Figgins

I remember the last time Uncle Bob and Aunt Paula came to visit with us. What a joy it was to see them. Love them both so much. Will miss Uncle Bob, but know that he is in a better place now. All my love to the family. Yasmine
