Shawn was born January 1, 1967 in Lewistown, MT.  She was raised there with her older brother Bill, by her parents Pam and Gene Rice.  Shawn moved to the Council Bluffs, Shenandoah area, where lived and worked until she met her husband John Parks, in 2000.  After a lengthy courtship, they moved together to the Oklahoma City area, where they were wed on May 26, 2007.  Shawn joined Narcotics Anonymous fellowship on July 5, 1989.  She has been a clean and sober, committed member ever since.  This July 5th Shawn would have celebrated 28 years free.  She was a true friend and mentor to countless people in the fellowship.  Shawn has influenced many lives and has friends throughout the United States.  She will be remembered for her quick wit, her supportive nature and her infectious laugh.  Shawn was a fantastic cook, and enjoyed gardening, flea marketing and buying and selling antiques.  She also loved to talk and share with others.

Survivors include her husband John Parks, daughter Sarah (Jake) Rowland, sisters: Kim Howard, Julie Day, Wendi Gilliam, stepsister Greer Dempster, and Sarah's little sister Annie.  She will be greatly missed.

Shawn was preceded in death by her father Gene Rice, her mother and stepfather Pam and Keith Dempster, and her older brother Bill.
