Vernon Kinsinger

A celebration of life for Vernon "Hoppy" Kinsinger, 89, of Wellman, formerly of Kalona will be held Saturday, February 6, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. At the United Christian and Baptist Church in Kalona. Burial will follow at the Sharon Hill Cemetery in Kalona.  Visitation will be held Friday, February 5 from 4 – 7 p.m. at the Peterseim Funeral Home in Kalona.  A memorial fund has been established for Richmond AM-VET Post #107 and Parkview Manor.  Vernon Kinsinger died Friday, January 29, 2016 at Parkview Manor in Wellman.

Vernon "Hoppy" Kinsinger was born August 26, 1926 in Johnson County, IA, the son of Vernie and Ethel (Miller) Kinsinger.  He graduated from Kalona High School and was united in marriage to Mary Gingerich on October 27, 1946 in Indiana.  Hoppy owned and operated Hoppy's Produce, Kinsinger Construction and K & K Sanitation.  He was a member of the United Christian and Baptist Church and enjoyed bowling, Iowa Hawkeye football and basketball, especially the AM Vet’s bus trips, spending time with his family, and playing cards.

Survivors include three children and spouses, Bev (Tim) Colbert of Riverside, IA, Sue (Tracy) Janecek of Washington, IA, Bob (Sue) Kinsinger of Riverside, IA, seven grandchildren, Clint (Amy) and Kyle (Joy) Colbert, Curt (Sarah), Chris (Julie) and Amy Janecek, Brad (Jill) and Nick Kinsinger, 14 great grandchildren, Garret and Grant Colbert and Brock Smith,  Chance, Croy and Canon Colbert, Averi, Lane and Tucker Janecek, Stella and Cayla Janecek and Shay, Macy and Ainsley Kinsinger, three sisters-in-law, 2 brothers-in-law and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding Hoppy in death were his parents, his wife Mary, one great grandson, one brother Orville Kinsinger and one sister Orthella Reece.
