Wallace Borntrager

Funeral services for Wallace A. Borntrager, 82, of Kalona, will be held Wednesday, August 31, 2016 at 9:30 am at the Neal Borntrager home located at 5570 Eagle Avenue, Kalona. Burial will follow at the Brenneman Cemetery. Visitation will begin Monday, August 29, from 1 – 8 pm at the Wallace Borntrager home located at 1867 540th Street, Kalona.  Tuesday visitation will be held at the Neal Borntrager home from 1 – 7 pm.  Wallace passed away suddenly while on vacation in Colorado at Rocky Mountain Mennonite Camp on Friday, August 26 at the age of 82 years, 7 months and 26 days.

Wallace A. Borntrager was born December 31, 1933 in Kalona, Iowa, the son of Alton M and Katie (Miller) Borntrager.  He was baptized in the Old Order Amish Church in his youth and was a faithful member until his death.  On February 18, 1960 he was united in marriage to Edna Mae Miller and live in matrimony 56 years.

Wallace is survived by his wife Edna and nine children and spouses: Verlin at home,  Myron and wife Judy of Syracuse, IN., Loren and wife Gladys of Kalona, Leora and husband Duane Ropp of Hutchinson, KS., Myrna and husband Merlyn Miller of Riverside, IA., Rosanna and husband Chester Yoder, Rollin at home, Lorena and husband James Swantz and Nelson and wife Betty Sue all of Kalona, 38 grandchildren, six great grandchildren, five siblings: Marvin (Minerva) Borntrager, Mattie (William) Miller, Anna (Glenn) Bender, Nelda (Eldon) Miller and Neal (Anna Marie) Borntrager.

Preceding Wallace in death were his parents and one brother, Duane.
