Annie Margaret (Yoder) Ropp

Annie Margaret (Yoder) Ropp was born September 14th, 1934, in Washington County, Iowa, to Noah and Magdalena (Hochstedler) Yoder. Annie passed away peacefully, in her sleep, on the morning of May 25th, 2026, at the age of 91 years, 8 months, and 11 days. She lived as a widow for 55 years. In her life, she enjoyed making quilts and, in later years, sewing lots of rugs. Visits from her children and grands were always a highlight. Annie accepted Christ as her personal Savior in her youth and remained faithful until her death.

She was united in marriage to Chester J. Ropp on October 18, 1956. She and Chester were “twins”, having both been born on September 14th, 1934. To their union, five children were born: Rose Mary (Sam) Coblentz of Gutherie, KY, Earl Ray (Emma Faye) Ropp of Kalona, IA, Lorena Mae (Alvin S.) Miller, Wayne Dale (Dorothy) Ropp and Monroe Lynn (Orpha) Ropp, both of Kalona, IA. Annie has 19 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and nine step-grandchildren. She is also survived by a sister, Mary Ellen (Eddie) Slabaugh of Mt. Crawford, VA, a brother, John Henry Yoder of Williamina, OR, and a special niece, Lena Sue (Andy) Fehr, of OR.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Chester on September 18th, 1970, her daughters Lorena on January 14th, 2019, and Rose Mary on October 1st, 2020, son-in-law Alvin S. Miller, siblings: Lydia Yoder, Erma and Joe Jr. Miller, Menno and Verna Yoder, Harvey and Ruby Ann Yoder, and sister-in-law Clara Yoder.

The family wishes to thank everyone for the many visits and acts of kindness through the years.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, May 26, 2026, from 2 - 8 PM, and Wednesday, May 27, 2026, from 10 AM on, and the funeral will be held Thursday, May 28, 2026, at 9:30 AM, all at the Clayton Borntrager residence: 2440 105th Street, Kalona, Iowa.
