Austin Allen Chalupa

Austin Allen Chalupa, 22, of Fairfield, Iowa, formerly of Washington, passed from this life on Saturday, June 25, 2022, at the Jefferson County Health Center in Fairfield.  A celebration of life will be held Thursday, June 30, 2022, at 11:00 AM at the Beatty Funeral Home in Washington. Burial will follow at the Elm Grove Cemetery in Washington. Open visitation will be held Wednesday, June 29, from noon until 7 PM at the Beatty Funeral Home in Washington, where the family will greet friends from 5 – 7 PM. A general memorial fund has been established.

Austin Chalupa was born February 10, 2000, in Iowa City, the son of Todd Chalupa and Rachael (Boethel) Harsch. He attended Washington and Mid-Prairie Schools. Austin was a hard worker, working in construction and concrete. He loved his family and his dogs. He had a passion for cooking and the Pittsburgh Steelers.  He will be remembered as a funny, caring, polite person with an enormous heart. 

Survivors include his parents: Todd Chalupa of Washington, Iowa, Rachael (Kevin) Harsch of Washington, Iowa, siblings: Cera Harsch, Blake Chalupa, Jesse Harsch and Jasmine Wenger all of Washington, Iowa, Nick Harsch of Bloomfield, Iowa, and Megan (Justin) Bassett of Drakesville, Iowa, paternal grandparents: Diane Chalupa of Washington, Iowa, Duane Chalupa of Keota, Iowa, and maternal grandfather: Bruce Dempsey of Memphis, Missouri.

Preceding Austin in death was his maternal grandmother Wilma Dempsey.
