Barb Slabaugh

Barb Slabaugh, 75, passed away at home on August 9, 2025.

Funeral Services have been set for 10:30 AM, Wednesday, August 13, 2025, at the Fairview Mennonite Church. Burial will follow in the Fairview Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2-8:00 PM, Tuesday, August 12, 2025 at the Fairview Mennonite Church. The service will be livestreamed on the Beatty-Peterseim Facebook page or YouTube. A general memorial in the name of Barb Slabaugh has been established.

She was born on February 4, 1950 to Mahlon and Edna Miller. She married Virgil (Virtie) Slabaugh on April 26, 1969 at Fairview Mennonite Church and together they built a beautiful life. Barb dedicated her time to creating a warm and welcoming home, where her family and friends always felt loved. She was gentle, patient, kind and wise. She served others selflessly, often by preparing delicious food. Her favorite place to be was surrounded by her family at the dinner table. 

She will be greatly missed by her husband Virgil, her children: Kim Gingerich of Kalona, Shannon (Beth) Slabaugh of Arthur, IL and Angie (Tim) Bender of North English, IA; grandchildren: Kayla (Simon) Schlabach, Kelsie (Tyler) Hebl, Karson and Keegan Gingerich, Annika and Shae Slabaugh, Reese, Gage, Everett, Hadyn, Joslyn and Brooklyn Bender; great-grandchildren: Miles, Aria and Halle Schlabach, and Wrenley and Caden Hebl; siblings, Mary Radtke of Ft. Wayne, IN, Benjamin (Wilma) Miller of Cedar Rapids, Ezra (Ruby) Miller of Hutchinson, KS, Paul (Bertie) Miller of Hutchinson, KS, Mark (Irma) Miller of Kalona, Elmer (Ileen) Miller of Kalona, Verton (Cheryl) Miller of Hutchinson, KS and Nora (Kevin) Kemp of Kalona.

She is preceded in death by her parents, stillborn son; brothers: Daniel, Joseph and Lowell, son-in-law Kermit Gingerich and great-grandson Rhett Schlabach.
