A memorial service for Carol S. (Bowles) Davis, 65, of Kalona, formerly of Wayland, will be held Saturday, August 8, 2015 at 10:00 AM at the Peterseim Funeral Home in Kalona.  The family will greet friends on Saturday the 8th from 9 – 10 AM.  A graveside service will be held Saturday, August 8, 2015 at 3:30 PM at the Durham Cemetery in Durham, Missouri.  A memorial fund has been established for the Multiple Sclerosis Society.  Carol died Wednesday, July 29, 2015 at the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City.

Carol Sue (Bowles) Davis was born June 17, 1950 in Hannibal, Missouri, the daughter of Grant E. and Mary I. (Bergman) Bowles.  She graduated from Keokuk High School in 1968 and attained her Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting from Culver Stockton College in Canton, Missouri.  Carol was united in marriage to Lynn Davis in Quincy, Illinois in 1970, the couple divorced several years later.  She worked at the John Deere dealership in Keokuk and did accounting jobs on the side, most recently working as an accountant for Newberry, Inc in Keokuk.  Carol owned and operated a vending machine service for several years, and also worked for Seven Seas Laundry and Houston Brothers, family owned businesses.  She was active in a bible study at her apartment complex in Kalona and enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, playing games, doing crossword puzzles, sewing, crotcheting, latchwork, embroidery, painting and various other craft projects.  Carol had fond memories of many vacations spent with her family.

Survivors include her son Ryan G. Davis (and significant other Taryn Kristan) of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, two sisters: Jamie J. (Bob) Bowles of Lewistown, Missouri and Marcia A. (Max) Howren of Ozark, Alabama and several nieces and nephews, including Otis Houston, Cecilee (Adam) Radel, Jon Howren and Callie (Nick) Borders.

Preceding Carol in death were her parents, her grandparents, a nephew Chad Little, a niece Monica Jones, sister in law Mary Davis and an aunt Leota Bowles.
