A Mass of Christian Burial for Clifford "Cliff", "CJ" Duwa, 82, of Wellman, will be held Saturday, August 23, 2014 at 10:00 AM at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Richmond with Father David Brownfield officiating.  Burial will follow at the Holy Trinity Catholic Cemetery.  Visitation will be held Friday, August 22 from 1 – 8 PM with a prayer service at 3:30 PM and the family greeting friends from 4 – 8 PM at the Peterseim Funeral Home in Kalona.  A memorial fund has been established for St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Hospice of Washington County and great grandson of Cliff's the Jayden Stafford Fund.  Cliff Duwa died Tuesday, August 19, 2014 at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City.

Clifford Joseph Duwa was born March 8, 1932 in rural Washington County the son of Lawrence "Doc" and Agnes (Bopp) Duwa. He was a member of  St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Wellman. Cliff was a farmer and dealer of Occo Feeds and a livestock trader.   On June 26, 1951 he was united in marriage to Evelyn Krotz.  The couple later divorced.  He had a special friend for seven years, Leora LeFever, who died of cancer.  On November 25, 1983 he married Mary Kathleen Adam and she died on November 1, 2010.   Cliff loved to play cards, visit casino's and buy scratch tickets.  He also enjoyed his Massey Harris tractors, driving in many tractorcades and attended many livestock auctions.  Cliff always had time to visit, never knew a stranger and always had a story to tell.

Survivors include seven children: Doug (Angie) Duwa of Williamsburg, Dennis (Jo) Duwa of Wellman, Dwight (Junell) Duwa of Wellman, Dixie (Rick) Conrad of Washington, Deanna (Larry) Marshek of Iowa City, Dallas (Amy) Duwa of Bettendorf, Dwayne (Harriet) Duwa of Wellman, 16 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, 38 nieces and nephews, eight siblings: Vera Gingerich, Lucille (Leroy) Duwa, Cleola Schneider, and Dolores Krotz all of Iowa City, Irma (Dennis) Althenhofen of Washington, Elaine (Fred) Lee of Costa Mesa, CA, Dean (Connie) Duwa of Ainsworth and Janet (Merle) Hagie of Washington.

Preceding Cliff in death were his parents, friend Leora LeFever, wife Mary Kathleen Duwa, brother Dale Duwa and sister in law Mary Ann Duwa, sister Velma Waldschmidt and brother in law Ralph Waldschmidt, brother in law Leo Krotz, brother in law Dwayne Schnieder, brother in law Olin Gingerich, nephew Greg Krotz and great grandson Kyle Tobin.
