Colton Allen

A Celebration of Life for Colton Richard Allen, 16, of Kalona, will be held Thursday, June 13, 2019, at 10:00 AM at the Mid- Prairie High School gymnasium in Wellman. Burial will follow at the York Cemetery in rural Williamsburg. Visitation will be held Wednesday, June 12 from 3 – 8 PM at the Mid-Prairie High School gymnasium. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established for the Mid-Prairie Wrestling and Football programs and for the Kalona 1st Responders. Colton Allen died Thursday, June 6, 2019. Peterseim Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements.

Colton Richard Allen was born July 20, 2002, in Iowa City, Iowa, the son of Joseph Warren and Tabitha Rose (Stover) Allen. He had just finished his junior year of high school at Mid-Prairie. Colton was a member of the wrestling team and the football team. He worked as a farm hand for Whetstine Farms and Catherine Thompson. Colton enjoyed hunting squirrels, fishing, riding horses, hanging out with friends and picking on his brother.

Survivors include his parents: Joe Allen of Wellman and Tabitha Allen of Kalona, two sisters: Amanda Kubo of Des Moines, Tasha Allen of Muscatine, Cory Allen of Wellman, paternal grandparents Ray (Wanda) Allen of West Liberty, Eileen Falls of Hills, and a large extended family.

Preceding Colton in death were his maternal grandparents Shirley St' Ours and Earle Stover.

The family would like to thank everyone for the incredible outpouring of support and assistance shown to them since Colton went missing Wednesday evening. The emergency teams and departments, the volunteers, the donations of food and water, and all of the other ways folks helped have touched their hearts and they are eternally grateful.
