Connie Ann Shaw

March 31, 1960 — June 9, 2026

Riverside

I was born March 31, 1960, at the clinic in Cabool, Missouri to Floyd and Leila Sullivan. Four years later my brother Mike was born. If you are reading this I have died from ovarian cancer which was diagnosed in 2021. Thank you to everyone who supported me during this phase of my life.

I graduated from Cabool High School in 1978. That summer I entered Burge School of Nursing. I wanted to be a nurse since I was 4 years old and I loved being a nurse. My career spanned 35 years in many areas, culminating as a nurse practitioner at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Iowa City, Iowa.

I was raised Baptist and accepted Christ as my savior at the age of 12. After I married Bob, I joined the Catholic church believing the most important thing was attending church together.

Bob and I met at a small hospital in Tampa, Florida. We married in May 1994. We retired together from the Veterans Administration on my birthday in 2016. We had no children, but several dogs that we spoiled.

I hope to be remembered for serving God as a nurse, sharing my musical talents and for baking lots of bread.

I am survived by my husband Bob and my brother Mike Sullivan, his wife Debbie, and two nieces.

Connie’s family would like to invite everyone to a luncheon to celebrate her life on Thursday, June 18, 2026, at St. Joseph Catholic Church Hall, from noon until 1:30 PM. Private family burial will take place prior to the luncheon. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established for The Birdhouse – Hospice Home of Iowa City.
