Craig Donald Stone, 55, of Iowa City, died Tuesday, September 8, 2026, at his home in Iowa City.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 16, 2026, at the Beatty Funeral Home in Washington, with Pastor Gerald Muller officiating. Burial will follow at Cottonwood Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until 1:45 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to The National Kidney Foundation or the Autistic Foundation.

Craig was born January 30, 1971, in Washington, Iowa, the son of Donald Eugene and Kristin Arlene (Wade) Stone. Growing up in a career military family, he attended grade school in Germany and other parts of Europe before graduating from Fort Knox High School in Kentucky in 1990. He later attended Junior College. Craig worked as a baker at Econofoods and had made his home in Iowa City since 1992.

Craig was an avid Iowa Hawkeye fan. He enjoyed spending time at Shakespeare’s Bar & Grill, where he participated in karaoke and trivia. He also enjoyed reading, playing guitar, and collecting music CDs.

Craig is survived by his mother, Kristin of Kalona; his sister, Teri Stone; his niece, Bridget Stone; and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Donald.
