David Allen Knerr

David Allen Knerr, 67 of Washington, died Tuesday, May 20, 2025, at his home in Washington.

There will be a gathering to share stories and memories of David from 2:00 to 6:00 PM on Saturday, June 7, 2025, at the pavilion next to the rocket slide at Sunset Park in Washington. 

David was born May 10, 1958, in Iowa City, Iowa, the son of Eugene Thomas and Helen Marie (Haifley) Knerr. He attended Washington High School. He was employed with Greiner Construction for several years and retired from EPC in Kalona.

He enjoyed fishing, woodworking, music, old westerns, and game shows on TV.

Survivors include his son David Cody Knerr of Atalissa, IA; siblings, Dick Haifley of Keota, Ruth (Al) Vonbehren of Tipton, IA, Barb (Jeff Tyer) Flanegan of Trenton, IA, Thomas Knerr of Washington, Patty (Ron) Brown of Kalona, Joyce Sinn of Kalona and Charlie (Tammy) Knerr of Kalona; several grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, son Christopher, brother Douglas James, brother-in-law Rick Sinn, and best friend Kenny Gierman.
