Delbert Dwight Hoyle, 73 of Washington, died Saturday, June 21, 2014 at the McCreedy Home in Washington.

Services have been set for 10:00 AM Wednesday, June 25, 2014 at the Beatty Funeral Home in Washington with Pastor Gene Carpenter officiating. Following services, his body will be cremated and a private family burial will be at the Elm Gove Cemtery at a later date. Visitation will be from noon to 7PM Tuesday afternoon at the funeral home, with the family present from 5 – 7 PM.  Memorials in the name of Delbert Dwight Hoyle may be designated to Washington County Hospice or the Washington County Model Railroad Club.

Delbert was born October 14, 1940 in Washington County, Iowa the son of Dwight Delbert and Olive Louise (Cady) Hoyle. He attended Pleasant Plain School and graduated from Fairfield High School. He was united in marriage to Kay Dianne Fitzwater on April 12, 1964 in First Baptist Church in Fairfield.  Delbert was employed with Northrup King/Syngenta in the seed stock division for 34 years and was an active member of the Washington County Model Railroad Club.  He had a passion for being on his tractor plowing snow or tilling gardens.  Delbert was a big kid at heart, who had a quick wit and always had a joke to share.  One of his greatest joys, besides his grandchildren, was his model railroad hobby which he shared with everyone he met and even had an extensive display in his home.

Survivors include his wife Kay of Washington, children, Michael Hoyle (Rhonda) of Hubbard, and Teresa Long (David) of Rubio, four grandchildren Travis, Paige, Shannon Hoyle and Daniel Long, seven siblings, Paul Hoyle (Karen) of Fairfield, Gene Hoyle (Lori) of Washington, Glen Hoyle (Jane) of Washington, Marilyn Martin (Dick) of Brighton, Kathryn Newman (Dick) of Brighton, Donna Rugg (Beryl) of Wayland and Wayne Hoyle (Amy) of Crawfordsville.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Bertha Kleese and stillborn sister, Luella, and one brother Larry.
