A celebration of life for Dennis "Boone" Novy, 63 of Kalona will be Saturday, May 12, 2012 at 10:30AM at the Kalona Mennonite Church.  Visitation will be Friday, May 11 from 2-4 and 6-8PM at the Peterseim Funeral Home in Kalona.  A memorial fund has been established for the Kalona Cub Scout Pack 234 and gifts of food can be brought to the Riverside VFW for the meal on Saturday.  Burial will be in the Sharon Hill Cemetery, Kalona.  Chaplain Maurie Campbell will officiate.

Boone Novy died Sunday, May 6, 2012 at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City following a sudden illness.

Dennis "Boone" Novy was born August 16, 1948 in Iowa City, Iowa the son of Dale and Phyllis (Bowman) Novy.  He graduated from Highland High School and attained his Associates Degree from Kirkwood Community College.  On February 4, 1972 he was united in marriage to Janet "Lani" DeVore in Mt. Pleasant, Iowa.  Boone worked as a systems analyst at Pearson Education Measurement in Iowa City for 39 years. He was very involved in Kalona Boy Scout Pack 234 and had served as den leader and pack leader.  He was a member of the Sons of AMVETS Richmond Post 107, the Kalona Optimist Club and was a social member of the Riverside VFW.  He enjoyed life to the fullest and loved spending time with his family. Boone always had time to visit and lend a helping hand.

Survivors include his wife Lani of Kalona, two daughters, Tara (Adam) Crawford of Hilliard, OH, Kindra Novy of Kalona, five grandchildren, Aria and Grace Crawford, Tristan and Zane Novy and Adrianna Nutt,  one sister, Linda Burkart of Iowa City, IA, and two nieces and one nephew.

Preceding Boone in death were his parents, one niece Meeghan Burkhart, and one nephew Matthew Brown DeVore.
