Diane Lynn (Kerr) Chalupa

June 29, 1949 — June 15, 2026

Washington

Diane Lynn Chalupa was born June 29, 1949 to Dale N. and Bernice (Amlong) Kerr. She died peacefully at home following a short battle with cancer surrounded by her loved ones. As she requested, she will be cremated and there will be no services.

From her children: Our Mom loved everyone and loved to help her friends and family any time she had a chance. She would go above and beyond to be sure everyone was taken care of even if it meant skipping things for herself. You never had to guess what was on her mind, she was never shy about letting you know. Always quick with praise, love, and support, but not afraid to let you know when you needed to step back in line. She could be stern but you never had to question her love. You could always count on her loyalty and support. That is who Mom was, loving, loyal, funny, and quite often sassy. Mom was a friend to all she crossed paths with, as proven by her seemingly endless stream of visitors when she fell ill. Everyone thinks their mom is special, but there was a common theme with all her visitors in the past few weeks with story after story of how she had positively touched so many lives and gave life changing support to those that needed it. A devout mother to five children, a loyal wife and then loving partner, mom spent her life serving others. She was adored by all who she encountered for her giving, nurturing, and understanding demeanor. There aren’t enough words to describe all the things we will miss about Mom, but her comforting smile, bright eyes, and hugs that could fix anything would be at the top of the list.

Diane is survived by her children: Bill Chalupa of Mt Pleasant, James Chalupa of Washington, Necole (Bill) Miller of Keota, Todd Chalupa of Washington, and Wendee Chalupa of Cedar Rapids. Her partner Larry Laws of Washington. Granny will be missed tremendously by her grandchildren Lakin, Kyla, Kelby, Justin, Kevin, Maleah, Blake, Gage, Jazmin, Willie, Olivia, and Peyton. As well as her cherished great grandchildren Adyson, Kendryck, Krew, and Omar.

Her surviving siblings: Judith Speake of Mesa, AZ; Martha (Ron) Marsh of Wayland, IA; Skeeter (Vance) Long Queen Creek, AZ; Deb (Leon) Lintz of Homestead, IA. Sisters-in-law Tootie Speake of Forest, VA; Ginny Kerr of Washington, IA; and Carolyn “Corky” Cooper of Kalona, IA.
