Donald Libe

Graveside services for Donald E. Libe, 80 of Washington, will be held Friday July 15, 2016 at 11:00 am at Elm Grove Cemetery in Washington.  Visitation will be held Thursday, July 14 from noon – 7pm at the Beatty Funeral Home in Washington, where the family will greet friends from 5 – 7 pm.  A memorial fund has been established for Hospice of Washington County and St. James Catholic Church.  Donald E. Libe, died Monday, July 11, 2016 at the Washington County Hospital.

Donald E Libe was born October 3, 1935 in Washington, Iowa the son of Lawrence and Mary (Kurka) Libe.  He graduated from Washington High School.  On July 25, 1953 he was united in marriage to Beverly Wolfe in Iowa City, IA.  Don began farming south of Washington, which he continued with his brother, Bob, for over 40 years.   Along with farming, Don owned and operated Libe Custom Grinding.  Don was a member of St. James Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, Farm Bureau and was a 4H leader.   He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, life on the farm, all sports (major Chicago Cubs fan), dancing, going to the races,  hunting and woodworking.

Survivors include his children:  Vicky and husband Del Ginder of Mason City, IA., Steve Libe and fiance' Diane Joy of Ainsworth, IA., Lisa and husband Lynn Harvey of Washington, IA., Joni and husband Paul Davis of Marthasville, MO., 14 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, and one brother, Robert and wife Jeanette Libe of Washington, IA.

Preceding Don in death were his parents and his wife, Beverly, and brother in law and sister in law, Jim and Mary Jo Wolfe.
