A Celebration of Life for Dorothy E Helmuth, 91, of Kalona, will be held Tuesday, June 18, 2019, at 2:30 PM at East Union Mennonite Church in Kalona. Burial will follow at East Union Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. A memorial fund has been established for Pleasantview Home Building Fund and East Union Mennonite Church. Dorothy Helmuth died Friday, June 14, 2019, at the Pleasantview Home in Kalona. The Peterseim Funeral Home is assisting the family.

Dorothy Elizabeth Helmuth was born January 2, 1928, in Palmyra, Missouri, the daughter of Jesse B and Ruth (Detwiler) Kreider. On February 11, 1951, Dorothy was united in marriage to Menno Helmuth at Lower Deer Creek Mennonite Church. They were married for 59 years. Dorothy was a member of East Union Mennonite Church and she enjoyed bowling, family history, activities and reunions.

Survivors include one brother, Maurice Kreider of Palmyra, MO, one sister, Lois (Thomas) Vincent of Barry, IL, sister-in-law, Ilene Kreider of Palmyra, MO, brother-in-law, Daniel (Rita) Helmuth of Iowa City and many nieces and nephews.

Preceding Dorothy in death were her parents, her husband, one brother, David Kreider, three sisters-in-law: Helen Kreider, Lydia Gnagey, Martha Schrock, and four brothers-in-law: Will, Andy, Eli and John Helmuth.
