Edna Irene Rowe, 93 of Mt. Pleasant, died Friday, December 20, 2002 at the Henry County Health Center in Mt. Pleasant.
Funeral Services will be 10:00 A.M. Monday, December 23, 2002 at the First United Methodist Church in Mt. Pleasant with Rev. Donna Hughes Hargraves officiating. Burial will be in the Forest Home Cemetery. Visitation will be Noon till 6:00 P.M. Sunday at the Beatty Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant with family receiving friends from 2-4:00 P.M. in the afternoon. Memorials in Edna name may be designated to the First United Methodist Church of Mt. Pleasant.
Edna was born April 29, 1909 near Centerville, IA the daughter of Claudius and Leora (Salladay) McGrew. On September 2, 1934 she was united in marriage to William John Rowe in Unionville, Iowa.
She attended Teacher’s College in Cedar Falls, Iowa and taught school prior to her marriage.
Edna was a faithful Member of the First United Methodist Church of Mt. Pleasant. She was a tireless volunteer at the Head Start, West Side Mother’s Club and the First United Methodist Church. She knitted hats for the babies born at the Henry County Health Center up until her death.
Survivors include: two sons, Howard Rowe and wife Johanna of Carlsbad, CA and Robert Rowe and wife Rhonda of Northfield, MN; one daughter, Helen Connors and husband Jim of St. Joseph, MO; ten grandchildren and twenty great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband William on December 5, 1996, one sister Mabel and daughter, Janice Bates.
