Elijah Coblentz

Elijah Coblentz, 65, of Kalona, died Wednesday, May 4, 2022, from apparent heart failure. A funeral will be held Saturday, May 7, 2022, at 1:00 PM at Fairview Mennonite Church in rural Kalona. Burial will follow at the Peter Miller Cemetery. Visitation will be held Friday, May 6, 2022, from 4 – 7 PM at Fairview Church. A memorial fund has been established for Hospice of Washington County and Fairview Church.

Elijah Coblentz was born May 2, 1957, in Washington, the son of Harley and Barbara (Gingerich) Coblentz. He was baptized in the Old Order Amish Church and later joined Fairview Church. Elijah worked at English River Pellets and enjoyed fishing, going to the sale barn and watching harness racing.

Survivors include his brother Daniel (Esther) Coblentz of Kalona, sister Fannie Coblentz of Kalona, sister-in-law Susie Coblentz of Bloomfield, Iowa, and many nieces and nephews.

Preceding Elijah in death were his parents, two brothers: Dwight and Joe, and two sisters Ruby and Marie.
