Evelyn Goff

June 7, 1927 — November 25, 2016

Evelyn Anna Widmer Roth-Goff, 89, born June 7, 1927, was given the privilege of going home to be with the Love of her life, Jesus, on November 25, 2016. She is finally home.

Evelyn is survived by her devoted husband of almost 26 years, Maynard Goff, Jr.; her children Philip (Mary) Roth, Debra (Bill) Middleton, Dee (Larry) Clingman, Penelope (Kevin) Jordan, Marti (Steve) Walker, and Lori (Dale) Mullikin; her stepchildren Maynard (M.J.) Goff III, and Janis (Gary) Mineart; her grandchildren, Jeremy (Sara) Roth, Joshua (Mandy) Roth, Aron Roth, Bill Middleton, Matthew Middleton, Keely (Jon) Warren, Joel (Valerie) Clingman, Britt (Dan) Collingwood, Jonathan "Trey" (Kari) Masson, Jesse (Julie) Masson, Ezekiel Walker, Makenna (Andrew) Lary, and Austin (Alissa) Mullikin; three step grandchildren, 22 greatgrandchildren, and two step greatgrandchildren; her brothers Darwin (Dorothy) Widmer, Norman (Mary) Widmer, and Larry Widmer.

Evelyn was preceded in death by her faithful first husband of almost 39 years, Rex Roth; their son, Kevin Roth, step-son Steve Goff, her parents, Edward and Edna Boshart Widmer; brothers Donnie, Delmer, and Duane; and sisters Oletha Birkey and Verdella Krabill.

Singing was a passion for Evelyn. She sang at weddings and funerals and was always singing around the house. She was a quiet servant taking meals or her cinnamon rolls to others, sitting beside grieving or lonely people, or sharing about her Jesus with anyone who would listen.

Evelyn had a strong work ethic and sacrificed much for her family’s needs. Her heart was always at home, where she longed to be with her family. Evelyn was a faithful and loving wife, mother, and grandma.

Proverbs 31 describes Evelyn. What a legacy and heritage she leaves behind! She will be sorely missed, but those who know Jesus personally will be joyfully reunited with her again one day for all eternity.

Evelyn donated her body to the University of Iowa Anatomy Department. Beatty Funeral Home is entrusted with arrangements for Evelyn and her family. Family visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m., Friday December 2, 2016 at Faith Baptist Church in Washington.  Her memorial service will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, December 3, 2016 at the church.

Memorials may be designated to Hospice of Washington Co. or Faith Baptist Church.
