A celebration of life for F. Clinton Hertig, 92, of Wayland will be held Thursday, May 22, 2014 at 2:00 PM at the Eicher Mennonite Church in Wayland with Pastor Dave Schooley officiating.  Burial will follow at the North Hill Cemetery in Wayland. Open visitation will be held Wednesday, May 21 from 2 – 6 PM at the Beatty Funeral Home in Wayland, and on Thursday, May 22 from 1 – 2PM at the church. A memorial fund has been established for the Parkview Home in Wayland and Hospice of Washington County. Clinton Hertig died Monday, May 19, 2014 at the Parkview Home in Wayland. Funeral arrangements are being handled by the Beatty Funeral Home.

Forest Clinton Hertig was born June 15, 1921 in rural Wayland, Iowa the son of Chris and Minnie (Boese) Hertig.  On January 1, 1946 he was united in marriage to Wanda Pence in Washington.  Clinton was a farmer all of his life and enjoyed partime work at the Roth Hardware store in his retirement.  He was a member of the Eicher Mennonite Church and he enjoyed farming and woodworking.

Survivors include his wife Wanda of Wayland, two sisters in law: Jean Hertig of Wayland and Loreta Pence of Washington, one nephew, Gary (Connie) Pence of Washington, two nieces: Vicky Hertig of Seattle, WA, Denise (Kevin) Kluger of Eldridge, IA, two great nieces: Abby Leonard and Mikaela Mikkelsen, and one great nephew, Dane Mikkelsen.

Preceding Clinton in death were his parents, one brother, Donnie Hertig, and two sisters: Betty Hertig and Velma Rixe.
