Frances Lowe

Frances “Ruth” Lowe, 99, of Washington, passed away Thursday, January 11, 2018 at the Brownlee Health Center in Washington. At her request there will be no visitation or funeral. Ruth willed her body to the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City. Beatty Funeral Home is assisting the family. Frances Ruth Lowe was born in Seattle, Washington to Frances Faye Swisher Lowe and Robert Ephraim Lowe on November 5, 1918. She grew up and was schooled in Washington, Iowa. Ruth worked hard all her life. She started young – caring for the elderly in their homes. She later worked at the Curran Company, the American Pearl Button Company and spent her last 16 years working at Oral B Laboratories in Iowa City. She retired in 1977 because of poor health. She was an avid reader. She loved poetry, and often put a poem in the Periscope for others to enjoy. She did many crafts in her life time and enjoyed playing games and cards. She is survived by her sisters Dorothy See and Bess Edwards, and a sister-in-law Martha Lowe all of Washington. Preceding Frances in death were her parents, her brother Robert E. Lowe and three brothers-in-law: Clarence See, Rueben Schaff and Merlyn Edwards and her little dog Pippy.
