A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial for Gaylen "Boo" Kron, 76, of Coralville, formerly of Riverside, will be held Friday January 19, 2018. 11:00 am at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Riverside with Father David Brownfield and Deacon Derick Cranston officiating. Burial will follow at the Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Riverside. Visitation will be held from 9:30 until 11:00 at St. Mary's Catholic Church on Friday. Boo Kron died Saturday, January 13, 2018 at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established for Iowa City Hospice and St. Mary's Catholic Church.
Gaylen Raymond Kron was born August 20, 1941 in Iowa City, Iowa, the only child of Raymond and Freda (Frank) Kron. He graduated from St. Mary's High School in Riverside. In August of 1984 he was united in marriage to Dolores "Dee" Kriegel in Iowa City. Boo worked at moore business forms for 30 years and also farmed. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Riverside. He also enjoyed playing cards, teasing folks, and loved farming.
Survivors include his wife Dee of Coralville, six children: Rayna (Travis) Danielson of Riverside, Jill Hartz and fiance Mark Appel of North Liberty, Bret (Amanda) Kron of Riverside, Brian (Nancy) Cassady of Iowa City, Amanda (Tim) Peffer of Seattle, WA., Nancy (Andrew) Timbs of Iowa City, seven grandchildren: Chad Klein, Dan (Rachel) Klein, Tanner and Breanna Hartz, Ana and Sara Cassady and Mariyah Kron, and one great grandson Solomon Klein.
Preceding Boo in death were his parents.
