Gregory Van Egdon

January 17, 1942 — October 28, 2014

A celebration of life for Gregory R. Van Egdon, 72, of Kalona will be held on Monday, November 3, 2014 at 10:30 AM at the Kalona United Methodist Church with Pastor Gerry Kahler officiating.  Burial will follow at Sharon Hill Cemetery in Kalona.  Visitation will be held Sunday, November 2, 2014 from 4 – 7 PM at the Peterseim Funeral Home in Kalona.  A memorial fund has been established for the Kalona 1st Responder's and the Kalona United Methodist youth activities. Gregg died Tuesday, October 28, 2014 at Windmill Ridge in Coralville.

Gregory Ray Van Egdon was born Januay 17, 1942 in Monterey Park, California, the son of Gerrit and Marcelle (Heronima) Van Egdon.  He graduated from Azusa High School in Azusa, California and earned his Masters in Accounting from Golden Gate University.  On July 13, 1963 he was united in marriage to Shirley Ann Kinsinger in Los Angeles, California.  After Shirley's death he married Mary Kempf on January 1, 2011.  Gregg worked as a Certified Public Accountant for Latta Harris Hanon & Penningroth for 20 years.  He was a member of the Kalona United Methodist Church, the Optimist Club of Kalona, and Sharon Center Fellowship Lodge #549.  Gregg enjoyed listening to Elvis music, working in the yard, talking politics, traveling and his dog "Tootsie".  He was a very patriotic man who loved his country.

Survivors include his wife, Mary of Mt. Pleasant, daughter Heidi (Craig) Morrison of Kalona, son Kenneth Van Egdon and partner Joe Mosher of Iowa City, granddaughter Annie Pearl Morrison, four siblings: Arlene (Sam) Zanghi of Lake Havasu, Arizona, David (Karen) Van Egdon of Sacramento, California, Rosemary Murphy of Simi Valley, California, Bernice(Alex) Ledesma of Duarte, California.

Preceding Gregg in death were his parents and his wife Shirley.
