A celebration of life for James Hotle, 73, of Washington will be held Saturday, February 27, 2016 at 1:30 p.m. at Washington United Methodist Church with Pastor Ben Blanchard officiating. Burial will follow at Fern Cliff Cemetery in rural Wayland. Visitation will be held Friday, February 26, from noon to 7 p.m. at the Beatty Funeral Home in Washington, with the family present from 5 – 7 p.m. James Hotle died Sunday, February 21, 2016 at the University of Iowa Hospital.
James Douglas Hotle was born December 15, 1942 in Washington, Iowa, the son of Dallas and Hazel (Snakenberg) Hotle. He graduated from Washington High School and worked at several jobs, including Tyson's Food in Barryville, AR, and for the Milwaukee Railroad in Washington, IA. On June 17, 2000 he was united in marriage to Emily Stoops at Sunset Park in Washington. James was a member of the Washington United Methodist Church and enjoyed collecting coins, reading historical books, anything related to the railroad and listening to country music. He took several trips to the Grand Ole Opry and especially liked Johnny Cash and Elvis Presley's music.
Survivors include his wife, Emily of Washington, one sister, Barb (Bill) Bernand of Missouri and a nephew, Philip Paisley of Okalahoma.
Preceding James in death were his parents and one sister, Marjorie.
