Funeral services for James W. Schrock, 58, of Iowa City, will be held Monday, November 5, 2018 at 10:30 AM at Fairview Mennonite Church. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery. Visitation will be held Sunday, November 4, from 2:30 – 5:30 PM at the Peterseim Funeral Home in Kalona. A memorial fund has been established for Systems Unlimited and Camp Courageous. James died Thursday, November 1, 2018 at the Bird House Hospice in Iowa City.
James William Schrock was born May 13, 1960 in Iowa City, the son of Truman and Nettie (Miller) Schrock. He was a member of Fairview Church and for the past 13 years has been a resident of Systems Unlimited, along with Chuck Lacina and Paul Gause. James worked at Goodwill for many years and enjoyed attending Camp Courageous and participating in the Special Olympics. He enjoyed music, magazines, ice cream and being with his family. Survivors include four siblings: Dale (Marlene) Schrock of Iowa City, Anna (Jack) Tillotson of Nashwauk, MN, Phil (Roberta) Schrock of Albany, OR, Lucille (Wilbur) Shetler of Kalona, six nieces and 11 nephews and 25 great nieces and nephews.
Preceding James in death were his parents.
The family would like to truly thank Systems Unlimited for the family atmosphere, compassion and excellent care James received as a resident.
