Janet "Jan" M. Weeber

Janet M. “Jan” Weeber, 82, of rural Iowa City, passed from this life on Monday, July 6, 2026, at the University of Iowa Downtown Campus, following a lengthy battle with multiple health issues. She will be cremated and a private family memorial gathering will be held later in August. The Beatty Peterseim Funeral Home is assisting the family.

Janet Mitchell Weeber was born April 4, 1944, in Cleveland, OH, the daughter of Willard and Eleanor (Fox) Mitchell. She graduated from Glenbard West High School in Glen Ellyn, IL. On June 6, 1964, she was united in marriage to Steve Weeber in Glen Ellyn, IL. Jan was an avid home decorator with a love of making her house a home. She loved her children and grandchildren deeply, and they will miss her immensely. This is an excerpt from a letter written to her by her grandson: “I will carry the love that you have given me everywhere I go and think of you every step of the way.”

Survivors include her husband Steve of Iowa City, daughter Kathy (Paul) Palicki of Pittsburgh, PA, son Todd Weeber of Elizabethtown, KY, five grandchildren: Jack, Will, Jared, Emma, and Lauren, and one sister Marilyn in Plano, TX.

Preceding Jan in death were her parents and one brother, Ron Mitchell.
