Janet Moss

Janet M. Moss, 93, of Washington died Monday, March 25, 2019 at the University of Iowa Hospital, and would like everyone to get their flu shot. At her request she will be cremated and there will be no services. A memorial fund has been established for Friendship Emergency Fund of Washington Ministerial Association, Hospice of Washington County and Washington County Ambulance. Janet Marie Moss was born November 23, 1925 in Ottumwa, Iowa, the daughter of Harold and Marjorie (Johnston) Haller. She graduated from Ottumwa High School and attended business college. In December of 1953 she was united in marriage to Robert G. Moss in Ottumwa. Janet was a secretary, working at John Morrell in Ottumwa, Washington Jr. High, USDA Farmers Home Administration in Washington and Muscatine. She was a member of Chapter MX P.E.O. and volunteered at Hospice of Washington County. Janet enjoyed reading, composing well written letters to the editor, Hawkeye sports, sewing and her cats. She was very grateful for her neighborhood friends and watchdogs. Survivors include two daughters: Jane (Duane) Mehrens of Lincoln, NE and Ann Moss of Reston, VA. and two grandcats. Preceding Janet in death were her parents and her husband Robert.
