A celebration of life for Jean K. Hertig, 80, of Wayland will be held Tuesday, October 13, 2015 at 2:00 PM at the Bethel Mennonite Church in Wayland.  Burial will follow at the North Hill Cemetery in Wayland. Visitation will be held Monday, October 12 from 1 – 7 PM at the Beatty Funeral Home in Wayland, where the family will greet friends from 5 – 7 PM.  A memorial fund has been established for Parkview Home and Hospice of Washington County.  Jean Hertig, 80 of Wayland, died Saturday, October 10, 2015 at the Parkview Home in Wayland.

Jean Katherine (Davison) Hertig was born October 14, 1934 in Washington County, Iowa the daughter of Charlie and Rhua (Mann) Davison.  She graduated from Wayland High School.  On September 11, 1955 she was united in marriage to Donnie Hertig at the Wayland Mennonite Church.
She was a farm wife for most of her life and worked as a bookkeeper and secretary with her husband Donnie for their fertilizer business.  She enjoyed sewing,  crocheting, collecting dolls and artwork, and being active with her church and family.

Survivors include two daughters: Vicky Hertig of Seattle, WA, Denise (Kevin) Kluger of Eldridge, IA, three grandchildren: Abby Leonard of Aurora, CO, Dane Mikkelsen of Iowa City, IA, Mikaela Mikkelsen of Eldridge, IA, one brother, Don (Dorothy) Davison of Wayland, IA, twin sisters: Janice (Jerry) Flory of Washington, IA, Joyce (Rod) Letts of Washington, IA, and one sister in law, Wanda Hertig of Wayland, IA.

Preceding Jean in death was her husband Donnie in 2001, sister in law, Velma Rixe and two brothers in law: Clinton Hertig and Harold Rixe.
