Katherine Louise Jones

Katherine L. (Duwa) Jones, 66, of Fairfield, passed from this life on Friday, June 26, 2026, at her son’s home near Kalona. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, at 6:30 PM at the Peterseim Funeral Home in Kalona. The service will be available via Livestream at the Beatty Peterseim Facebook and YouTube pages. The family will greet friends from 5:00 PM until 6:15 PM at the funeral home. A memorial fund has been established for Second Star Children’s Camp. The Beatty Peterseim Funeral Home is assisting the family.

Katherine was born May 24, 1960, in Platte, SD, the daughter of Lewis and Elizabeth Ann (VanderHam) Jones. She graduated from Mid-Prairie High School and went on to work at Sheller Globe in Iowa City, Reif’s Family Center in Kalona, and, most recently, at Hy Vee in Fairfield. She owned and operated an in-home daycare for many years, and Kathy’s Homespun Treasures. Katherine enjoyed scrapbooking, crafting, and quilting, and belonged to several quilt groups over the years. She attended the First Presbyterian Church in Fairfield.

Survivors include her children: Jessica (Jeremy) Blauvelt of Washington, Justina (Nathan) Yoder of West Liberty, Jeremiah (Ashley) Duwa of Kalona, ten grandchildren: Aric, Zeke and Katrina Blauvelt, Hailey, Alora and Kai Yoder and Kylynn, Nora, Jackson and Jada Duwa, four siblings: Annie Kofron, Joe Jones, Bob Jones and Patti (Richard) Stoner, and her yorkipoo Honey.

Preceding Katherine in death were her parents and two brothers: Dave and Tom Jones.
